United Way taps Besa to curate volunteer experiences for corporate partners

Columbus, Ohio — United Way of Central Ohio has tapped Besa to curate meaningful volunteer experiences for its corporate partners to engage employees in causes they care about and amplify good throughout the Central Ohio community.

Beginning in summer 2023, Besa will curate volunteer experiences for United Way’s corporate partners, creating impactful experiences that connect their employees with community service while expanding capacity for nonprofit partners.

“United Way of Central Ohio is looking forward to joining forces with Besa as we continue to mobilize the caring power of our community in new and exciting ways,” said United Way of Central Ohio President and CEO Lisa Courtice. “United Way’s deep ties to our corporate partners over the past 100 years combined with Besa’s ability to curate meaningful volunteer experiences will expand critical support for local nonprofits and the families they serve.”

Besa CEO Matthew Goldstein said he, too, looks forward to partnering to amplify good.

“The partnership between Besa and United Way will allow both of our organizations to go further faster to amplify civic engagement, mobilize thousands more volunteers and build a thriving community,” Goldstein said. “This will give United Way’s corporate clients the ability to connect employees with causes they care about while helping nonprofits serve more people. Together, we’re building a more connected, kinder Columbus — and we are thrilled.”

Besa will curate a total of 18 experiences for United Way’s corporate partners in the first year of the partnership. It will create two different types of experiences: Classic Volunteer Experiences, which will include 16–30 volunteers, and Essential Volunteer Experiences, which will include 31–60 volunteers.

Since launching in 2012, Besa has rallied over 73,000 volunteers to give over 170,000 hours completing over 11,600 service projects, and it has helped make $80M in community impact.

Besa is a Columbus-based nonprofit dedicated to powering a wave of civic engagement and supporting those who need it most by connecting people and businesses to community service. Besa makes giving back easy by curating more than 70 volunteer experiences every month that Columbus residents can easily find and register for at www.besa.org. It also helps business partners manage and strengthen their philanthropic efforts through strategic planning, curated volunteer experiences, volunteer management and philanthropy software.
